Champions Trophy, India's denial put the holding of the tournament in jeopardy
The refusal of the Indian team to come to Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 jeopardized the tournament.
The Indian board and ICC insist that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) adopt a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy, however, the board has flatly refused and so far no contact has been made to hold matches in UAE. After office hours on Friday night, the PCB received an email from the ICC, in which, referring to the Indian letter, it was written that the government did not allow the team to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.
The PCB informed the government about the situation, and the reply was received that this time, take a strict stand. It is a question of national honor. When all the teams are coming here, how can India refuse without any reason? Now, Pakistan is sending a letter to the ICC in 24 to 48 hours, in which it will be informed about the government's stand of not playing India in the future. It will also list what problems may arise from not getting the permission.
Sources said that the PCB has received instructions from the government to get the reasons for India's decision in writing, legal action may also be possible. In future tournaments in which India participates, the Pakistani team may refuse to participate. Yes, the schedule of the event was supposed to be released yesterday but could not be done, now with every passing day ICC may have to suffer loss in terms of broadcasting rights.
